A Fiscal Agent is a formal arrangement in which we sponsor programs that lack exempt status. We provide this service to groups whose mission and vision are complementary to ours and who are committed to addressing the needs of the students and families in East San José. This arrangement allows sponsored groups to seek grants and solicit tax-deductible donations under our exempt status. We support their efforts to raise funds to support the programs and activities offered by these groups.
Sponsored groups do their own grant writing and other fundraising work. Under this arrangement we perform a channeling function by assuming expenditure responsibility for donations and grant money. We maintains separate records of income and disbursements related to each sponsored group and funds are disbursed solely at the direction of the sponsored group. Each sponsored group must comply with restrictions and requirements imposed by donors, government and foundations, including accurate and timely reporting.
The goal is to assist organizations as they grow and work to develop their own non-profit status. Our first fiscal arrangement with the Alum Rock Youth Center Advisory Committee successfully achieved that goal. With our support they are now Youth Connections Foundation of San José, a federal and state tax exempt California Corporation serving San José youth with after school and summer enrichment programming.
We currently serve as Fiscal Agent for the following groups:
